The man who walked on the moon

Neil Armstrong died on August 25th, 2012.

He was 82 years old

People called Neil Armstrong a hero.

Armstrong did not like that.

He said many people helped him.

About 400,000 workers in the space program helped.

They had a dream. They wanted a man to walk on the Moon.

Trip to the Moon

On July 16th, 1969, a rocket sent three men to the Moon.

Millions of people watched.

Their TVs had black and white pictures.

Landing on the Moon

Armstrong was the first person to put his foot on the moon.

The men left a flag and a message.

They stayed on the Moon for 21 hours.

On July 24th, 1969, all three men returned safely to Earth.
